Business Photography

Your website is running on stock photos

Customers can tell. Real photographs of your space, your food, and the people who actually work there do more for a small business website than any redesign. On location across the Peninsula, commercial usage included, from $700.

What a business shoot covers

Four kinds of photograph do almost all the work on a small business website.

Food and menu

Dishes, drinks, and the plating that sells them. The single highest-return photography a restaurant, cafe, or bakery can commission — it feeds your website, your menu, your delivery listings, and your social all at once.

Team and headshots

Consistent portraits of everyone who works there, shot the same way so the About page looks deliberate instead of assembled from whatever people had on their phones.

Your space

The storefront, the dining room, the shop floor, the treatment room. Customers deciding whether to walk in want to see inside first.

People at work

Your crew on a job site, a stylist mid-cut, a mechanic under the hood. This is the photography that makes a service business look real, and it is the hardest to fake with stock.

Recent work

Food and menu work from recent Bay Area commissions. More in the food gallery, and team portrait work in the headshot gallery.

Why real photographs are worth it

A small business website has a few seconds to prove it belongs to a real place run by real people. Photography is what does that.

Stock photos are recognisable

Customers may not name it, but they register it. A smiling model in a generic kitchen tells a visitor that you either could not be bothered or have something to hide. Real photographs of a real place do the opposite.

You own the usage

Commercial rights are included at every tier, in writing. Use the images on your site, in ads, on Google Business, on delivery apps, on a van wrap. No per-use licensing conversation later.

One visit covers the whole site

A half day usually produces the hero image, the About page portraits, the service section, and a year of social posts. Most businesses never need to book a second shoot.

I am local, so travel is not a line item

Based in Atherton and shooting across the Peninsula. Photographers coming down from San Francisco commonly add a few hundred dollars just to arrive.

How it works

Four steps from first email to a gallery you own outright.

1

Tell me what the photos are for

A new website, a Google Business listing, a menu refresh, delivery-app photos. The end use decides the shot list, the crops, and how many images you actually need.

2

We plan around your business hours

Most shoots happen before opening or during a quiet stretch. I work around service — no business should lose a day of trade to a photographer.

3

The shoot

Two hours to a full day depending on the package. Natural light wherever possible, supplemented where it isn't. Your staff carry on working; the best frames usually come from that.

4

Edited images in 5 days

A private gallery with web-ready and full-resolution versions of every selected frame. Download them, hand them to your web developer, use them anywhere.

Frequently asked

What business owners want to know before booking a shoot.

How much does business photography cost?

Packages start at $700 for a two-hour Essentials shoot with about 15 edited images. The half-day Standard package is $1,300 for about 35 images, and a full day is $2,400 for about 70. Commercial usage rights are included at every tier, and there is no travel fee within 25 miles of Atherton.

Do I own the photos? Can I use them in ads?

Yes. Commercial usage rights are included with every package, at no extra cost. Use the images on your website, in paid advertising, on your Google Business Profile, on delivery apps, on printed materials, on a vehicle wrap. You do not need to come back and license anything.

Do you have to close my business for the shoot?

No. Most shoots happen before you open or during a naturally quiet period. For food work I often shoot during prep. Your team keeps working — candid frames of people actually doing the job are usually the strongest images from the day.

How many photos do I actually need for a website?

Fewer than most people expect. A typical small-business site needs a strong hero image, three to five section images, and a set of team portraits — around fifteen. That is exactly what the Essentials package delivers. Book Standard if you also want a library for social and Google Business.

Can you photograph my team as well as the space?

Yes, and it is usually the same visit. The half-day Standard package is built for exactly this: the space, the team, and detail shots covered in one four-hour block rather than three separate bookings.

What areas do you cover?

The SF Peninsula — Atherton, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Redwood City, Woodside, and the surrounding towns, plus the coast. There is no travel fee within 25 miles of Atherton. Beyond that, a $150 travel fee applies.

Do you also build websites?

Photography and web design are separate businesses, but I do both, and clients often use them together. If your photos are going into a site that also needs work, mention it when you get in touch and I will tell you honestly whether it is worth combining.

How soon can you shoot?

On-location business shoots usually book one to two weeks out. If you have a launch date, say so when you get in touch and I will tell you straight away whether it is achievable.
